LUXE / HEALTH Bali travel bible…part two

One of the best bits about Bali is that no matter where you end up staying, it’s such an easy place to get around so there’s really no excuse not to explore everything this beautiful island has to offer.

While we were based in Seminyak for the duration of our trip, we made sure to get out and about whenever we could.  The best mode of transport is undoubtedly a scooter but while it’s super simple to navigate your way through the smaller hubs like Seminyak and Canggu, if you’re venturing any further afield, you will definitely need to hire a driver (approx. $45/day) or catch a taxi as the open roads can be terrifyingly busy!

Here are a few of my top spots from Canggu, north of Seminyak, to Uluwatu in the south…

Crate Cafe
Batu Bolong
Canggu

If you’re looking for a healthy brunch or lunch stop, then Crate Cafe is a must-visit!  I was craving a salad and was pleasantly surprised by the selection.  Grab a smoothie while you’re at it!

Canggu

This place is amazing and definitely a Canggu institution!  Everything is clean, green, organic and packed full of flavour.  Our mouths were watering with every dish that came out of the kitchen, but once again we were drawn to their delicious tacos.  Their dragonfruit kombucha was also pretty as a picture and super tasty!

La Laguna Bali
Jalan Patai Kayu Putih

Located on the beachfront about 20 minutes north of Seminyak, La Laguna is definitely worth a visit.  The bohemian vibe is spot on with the driveway lined with old gypsy caravans.  We stopped in here a couple of times and can highly recommend the mango lassi (a delicious yoghurt based smoothie) as well as the slightly deconstructed crème brûlée which comes served on perfect bite sized spoons!

Pedang Pedang Beach

As you come down the steep staircase which winds through the rugged cliff face, you know you’re in for something special when you reach the bottom.  Pedang Pedang beach is absolutely stunning and a little spot of paradise.  We asked our driver to stop here on our way to Uluwatu and I’m so glad we did.  Grab a coconut and make the most of the Insta-worthy scenery.

Nalu Bowls
Single Fin Restaurant & Bar

Uluwatu

After weaving your way up and down Uluwatu’s steep cliffs, stop in at Nalu Bowls and order everything…seriously!  Pictured above is the ‘Pipeline’, a delicious mix of banana, mango, pineapple, fresh coconut and coconut milk topped with Nalu’s famous homemade granola.  It’s the perfect dish to enjoy while kicking back at Single Fin and watching the amazing surfers.

Blue Point Bay Villas
Uluwatu

Blue Point Bay Villas

By the time we’d finished our Nalu Bowls, we were looking for a spot to chill out, have a swim and relax so we popped next door to Blue Point Bay Villas.  Set on the edge of the Uluwatu cliffs right next to Single Fin, this pool has one of the best views in Bali and even if you’re not a guest, you can pay a small fee to drop in, use the pool and grab some lunch.

Rock Bar
Ayana Resort

Our final stop on the way back to Seminyak was Rock Bar at the stunning Ayana Resort.  Nestled into the cliff, Rock Bar has been hailed as one of the top spots to view the Balinese sunset.  Just make sure you’re there early as you have to line up to get in, especially during peak holiday seasons.

LUXE / HEALTH on tour…

Bali

From the moment my fiancé and I stepped off the plane in Bali two years ago, I was in love.  It’s a melting pot of culture and chaos and no matter where you decide to explore, there’s so much to see and do…even the sticky sweltering heat couldn’t ruin my mood!

So, when we were deciding where to go for our honeymoon, there was no question – we were headed back to Bali!  Now all we need to do is decide which beautiful spot to visit first…
