Wedding series…

Wedding Series 1

For those of you who know me, you’ll already be aware that at the end of Feb I’ll finally be marrying my long-time love!  It’s such an exciting time and I honestly can’t believe how quickly this past year has flown by since we got engaged.

Although my fiancé and I are both fairly laid-back people, I know that the lead up to a wedding can still be a stressful time.  So, to help any of you soon-to-be brides out there, I thought I’d do a few blog posts on how we got organised for our big day.

First up…setting the date!

As you know, the first thing people ask, and often before they even say congratulations is, when’s the big day?  For some couples, this can be the first point of stress as you feel compelled to hurry and set a date for the benefit of everyone else.  It’s so easy to be influenced by family and friends when really, the date you choose should reflect you as a couple and be a date that means something to you both.

But, the most important thing to remember is that you don’t have to set a date right away.  Make sure you don’t sweep over the excitement of the engagement by diving head first into wedding planning.  Getting engaged is a milestone occasion and it’s a moment to be enjoyed and cherished.  I can still remember the excitement I felt when I phoned my parents to tell them we’d just got engaged or when I rang my nearest and dearest friends from around the world.  It was such a wonderful time and a day I’ll never forget.  Soak up the love!

When you do finally set a date however, you should absolutely get excited about making plans.  Just be sure not to stress about every tiny detail – as trust me, it will all come together in the end.
